    Day 1

    Tues: Welcome to the Heart of Egypt!

    Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, you are met and assisted by our representative, who helps guide you smoothly through arrival formalities.

    A private, air-conditioned vehicle is arranged for your transfer to the hotel, allowing you to settle in comfortably and check in at your own pace.

    Wed: Grand Egyptian Museum Experience 

    Breakfast begins at 7:00 AM. At 9:00 AM, meet your guide in the hotel lobby for departure to the magnificent Grand Egyptian Museum.

    Upon arrival, your guide will provide a narrated introduction and guided exploration of the museum’s key galleries from approximately 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, offering insight into some of Egypt’s most important archaeological treasures.

    After the guided portion, enjoy lunch on your own at one of the museum’s on-site restaurants or café options before continuing to explore the museum independently throughout the afternoon.

    At 4:30 PM, regroup with your guide and depart for a special welcome reception at a select location overlooking the illuminated Giza Pyramids. Enjoy appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages while taking in the spectacular nighttime view of these ancient wonders.

    At approximately 7:00 PM, return to your hotel in Cairo, where the evening is at leisure for dinner on your own.

    Thurs:Giza Pyramids & Evening Nile Dinner Cruise

    Breakfast begins at 7:00 AM. Meet in the hotel lobby at 8:15 AM for an 8:30 AM departure to the legendary Giza Plateau.

    Explore the iconic pyramids of Khufu, Khafra, and Menkaura while your guide shares the fascinating history and engineering achievements behind these ancient monuments. Continue to the majestic Great Sphinx of Giza, the mysterious guardian of the pyramids carved from a single block of limestone.

    During your visit, enjoy an included optional camel ride for a classic desert perspective of the pyramids and memorable photo opportunities. The tour concludes around 12:30 PM.

    Return to your hotel in Cairo where you will have time for lunch on your own and a short rest.

    In the evening, meet again in the lobby at 5:45 PM for a 6:00 PM departure to a relaxing dinner cruise along the Nile. Enjoy a scenic evening on the river with dinner and live entertainment as you sail past the illuminated skyline of Cairo.

    Return to the hotel later in the evening.

    Fri: Flight to Aswan & Begin Nile Cruise

    Early in the morning, transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight to Aswan.

    Upon arrival, board your comfortable Nile cruise vessel where you will spend the next three nights sailing the Nile toward Luxor.

    After lunch on board, begin your Aswan sightseeing with a visit to the impressive Aswan High Dam, a modern engineering landmark offering sweeping views over Lake Nasser.

    Continue by boat to the beautiful island sanctuary of Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis and considered one of the most picturesque temples in Egypt.

    In the evening, you may choose to attend the optional Sound and Light Show at Philae Temple, where dramatic storytelling and illumination bring the temple’s ancient legends to life.


    Optional: Nubian Village tour After breakfast, groups depart on bus to take small boat ride to the banks of authentic cultural experience the Nubian village tour hosted by local Nubian family for tea and homemade cakes.

    Sat: Kom Ombo & Edfu Exploration

    Early in the morning, you may choose to join the optional excursion to the magnificent Abu Simbel Temples by bus — highly recommended for its colossal statues and extraordinary temple relocation story. Alternatively, you may enjoy an optional visit to a traditional Nubian village to experience local culture and hospitality.

    Later in the morning, the cruise sails to Kom Ombo to visit the remarkable Temple of Kom Ombo, uniquely dedicated to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder. The temple’s symmetrical design and riverside setting make it one of the Nile Valley’s most distinctive monuments.

    After the visit, continue sailing along the Nile toward Edfu. Relax on board as the scenery of traditional villages, palm groves, and desert landscapes passes by.

    Enjoy dinner on board and spend the night on the cruise.

    Sun: Luxor East Bank 

    Arrive in Edfu and visit the impressive Temple of Horus, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt, dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus. After the tour, return to your Nile cruise and enjoy lunch on board while sailing toward Luxor.

    In the afternoon, explore the magnificent Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex ever built in ancient Egypt. Continue to the elegant Luxor Temple, known for its grand statues and impressive courtyards.

    Optional: In the evening, you may choose to attend the optional Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple, where dramatic illumination and narration bring the history of ancient Egypt to life.

    Mon: Luxor West Bank – (Final Departure)

    Optional: Early this morning, you may choose to experience an optional hot air balloon ride over Luxor, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Nile and the ancient monuments of the West Bank.

    Afterward, enjoy breakfast on board your Nile cruise before checking out.

    Begin your exploration of Luxor’s West Bank, starting with the legendary Valley of the Kings, the royal burial ground of Egypt’s New Kingdom pharaohs. Visit several remarkable tombs, including the famous Tomb of Tutankhamun and the richly decorated tombs of Ramesses V and Ramesses VI.

    Continue to the impressive Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, built for one of Egypt’s most powerful female rulers, Hatshepsut. Conclude the tour with a stop at the towering Colossi of Memnon, the massive statues that once guarded the entrance to a great temple complex.

    After the tour, transfer to Luxor International Airport for your flight back to Cairo.

Day 1

FAQ

Egypt is very safe to visit and the police, tourist police, and army are in prominence wherever you go, giving you a feel of being in secure surroundings. Egypt prides itself on its high safety record for tourists and will do all it can to maintain this.

Egyptian Arabic is the official and most widely spoken language in Egypt. English is taught in schools and is considered a secondary language that is most commonly used for tourism purposes.

The official currency of Egypt is the Egyptian Pound. Credit cards are accepted at most hotels, restaurants and upscale shops. There are also ATMs available at hotels and outside major banks dispensing local currency.

The best time to visit Egypt would be during the winter months, from October to April. The temperatures are mild and pleasant, although evenings can become quite cool. December through January are the peak tourist months so expect large crowds if travelling at this time. The best time to enjoy the beaches, without having to endure the large crowds of summer tourists, would be from March to May. Temperatures at this time are warm and tourist sites are not too crowded.

Egypt, being a predominantly Muslim country, is naturally conservative (not like the Gulf States or Saudi Arabia) but the average people are careful in what they wear. The dress code in Egypt for women is considered conservative by western standards and it is respectful to obey this code. For men it is not really an issue -- normal trousers and shirt or T-shirt are fine -- but in Cairo it would not be acceptable to wear short shorts or a tank tops/sleeveless tops. In the resorts like Sharm El Sheik, Hurghada, Sinai, etc. -- shorts are fine and it is very open and flexible. This also applies to ladies for the beach areas, but going into the market area in Hurghada, for example you may be more comfortable in trousers. Generally for men in Cairo or any city that is not on the sea side, remain with trousers (at tourist sites long loose shorts) or jeans and T-shirt , as even in Cairo, local people do not feel comfortable seeing a man in shorts. In Sea Side areas it's ok to walk in shorts, but once you enter a local restaurant or market, it's better to be more covered.

For the vast majority of travelers to Egypt, a valid passport and a travel visa is required. A visa can easily be purchased at the airport when you arrive. The cost for a single-entry, 30-day tourist visa is $25 (or equivalent in Euro), must be paid in cash (no credit or debit cards accepted), and your passport must be valid for at least six months. Citizens of all European countries, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, South Korea, Macedonia, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine and United States can obtain a visa upon arrival. (Egypt does allow visa-free access for certain countries such as Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macao, Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Malaysia.) Visas can also be purchased beforehand through Egypt’s Visa e-Portal: https://visa2egypt.gov.eg. Forty-one different nationalities are eligible to purchase the e-visa, however, it’s far easier to simply buy the visa at the airport.

As with most European and North American countries, tipping is graciously accepted in Egypt. A 10% tip at restaurants and to guides and drivers is standard. Unfortunately, at major tourist sites like the Pyramids of Giza or the tombs of the Valley of the Kings, touts aggressively hustle for tips by allowing you to take photos in areas where it’s clearly posted as prohibited (such as inside the tombs). Please refrain from perpetuating this problem by not paying to take pictures.

Egypt has a voltage supply of 220V and the plugs are the 2-round pin type that are common throughout Europe.

As noted previously, Egypt is a Muslim country, therefore alcohol is not readily available outside of tourist areas and western-style hotels/resorts. Beer and wine is available for purchase on all Dragonfly Kite Safaris.
